My memories include him filming with a huge smile across his face and an even bigger camera on his shoulder, balanced precariously on the Hinterstoisser Traverse as if standing in a local park. To arrive there we'd shared a peculiar frisson of fear whilst being wired down from a helicopter onto the North Face of the Eiger.
