Tale istanza avvalorata pur anco dai fervidi voti di molti amatori di belle arti, con instan cabili cure del professor Giovanni Aldini otten ne il suo effetto; e nel 4798, con decreto 20 ottobre il Ministro dell' interno ordinò la doman data collezione e custodia, unitamente a ciò che potesse riguardare Arti e Scienze a corredo però di quel nascente Istituto nazionale che in allora stavasi predisponendo.
