Flint and feldspar as supplied to the pottery trade are so finely divided that only a small fraction is retained by the no. 325 sieve. Therefore some equipment other than sieves is necessary, not only for determining particle size distribution but also for separating finer sizes of particles 111 sufficient quantity to study their effects in speci mens comparable with commercial products.
