In the hot afternoon sun the world's biggest land mammals roam across the African plains. A hungry elephant tears branches from a thorny tree with its powerful trunk. Several kilometres away a white rhinoceros stabs its horn into the ground to find roots. Both animals are wary. They sniff the air for signs of danger.
