A horse on fire entered the square

His manes ablaze, he's screaming in pain

No one could catch the horse as mercy rose in us

We placed ourselves in front of the poor creature

The horse fell over as he was overcome

We got the fire out but too late

Our pity for the horse was evident within us

Yet, we passed by the Millers whose needs are clearer
