Description - The Isle of Mull by Terry Marsh
Most walks in this guide, in whole or in part, cross
tough, trackless terrain, but there are few technical
difficulties and experienced walkers properly equipped
will find them hugely rewarding. They range from 5 to
22km (3 to 14 miles) and from short circuits close to
civilisation to long, remote and demanding mountain
traverses. Mull's only Munro, Ben More, is supported by a
fine cast of lower heights and threaded between them
great glens, once used by drovers and their cattle,
provide linear walks as good as anything on mainland
Scotland. The coastline, ranging from sandy flats to
exquisite raised beaches backed by cliffs once washed by
the sea, is spectacular. The island is rugged, in many
parts untamed and remote, elsewhere tranquil and
exquisitely beautiful, and that wildness makes it an
outstanding location for wildlife too.
