Description - John Lennon by Tim Coates
The Federal Bureau of Investigation began to watch ex-Beatle John Lennon closely, soon after he and his wife, Yoko Ono, arrived in New York in 1971, as Nixon's aides feared that Lennon might use his fame to mobilize American youth to vote against the president. In 1972 Lennon was ordered to leave America - partly due to a 1968 conviction for possession of marijuana - and he was not granted permanent residence until July 1976. This book contains the FBI files on John Lennon reproduced in facsimile, providing an insight into Lennon's political activities at the time of Nixon's re-election campaign and his struggle to get permanent residence. Handwritten comments and an indication of the extent of censored passages are included.
