Description - Key Debates in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing by John R Cutcliffe

The purpose of this book is to present a range of key issues that P/MH nurses face, related to practice, policy, research and education. Each issue is presented in the form of a debate, with opposing views argued by different authors, followed by a commentary written by a third author. The rationale of this format is to present balanced arguments in order to inform, educate and stimulate further debate amongst practitioners. In addition, the book aims to make P/MH nurses aware of the often uncertain nature of much of their nursing practice and knowledge. Their field is not characterised by black and white, easily delineated issues, but rather by various shades of grey. Consequently, there is a need to understand that, often, there are differing views, inconclusive arguments and contentious debates and for this understanding to influence clinical practice.
