This six volume set reproduces the complete writings of the London Corresponding Society (LCS) as well as other contemporary literature and parliamentary debates, and reports relating to the Society. The writings that came out of the LCS should be of great interest to scholars and students working in a number of fields in the humanities, including history, politcal science and literary studies. Against a backdrop of European war and domestic economic and social upheaval, there emerged in Britain a persistent and vociferous call for political reform in the wake of the French Revolution. This call was heralded throughout the nation by an unprecedented number of popular political societies supported by working-class members and it was the LCS which led the campaign with a significant publishing campaign of cheap political literature.
