Australia is a vibrant democracy in which people hold different ideas and opinions about who they are. In The People the different viewpoints from which the people of Australia see themselves are examined. To an Indigenous person people are the caretakers of the land whereas to environmentalists people are destroyers of the land. To a politician people are voters in a democracy and the power behind the government. To artists and writers they are a rich source of ideas and imagination. Australians are all these things and more.
