Storm is an engaging, emotional read. Amber, a 29-year-old archaeologist, returns to her parents’ home in the remote Marlborough Sounds with her debonair lawyer boyfriend, Malcolm. Little does she realise he is an arch manipulator and possibly a killer. All seems well until they arrive at the isolated property to celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year. A violent storm washes out the roads, trapping them, and Malcolm’s veneer of rationality begins to erode. Amber has no idea what is swirling in the vortex of the storm.
