The progressive movement was an important movement in Urdu literature. It was a global movement with many philosophical underpinnings. Most critics of Urdu call the progressive movement an extension of the Aligarh movement. The progressive movement called collectivism, communism and objectivity essential for itself. The concept of realism presented by Munshi Premchand in his works was the forerunner of the progressive movement. The era of Premchand was very important socially and politically and this period proved to be very useful for the progressive movement. This book presents a critical overview of the services of the progressive movement through a few essays.
