Description - The Midnight Monster by Edel Wignell
Set in the 1840s, this story is based on an ancient Australian Aboriginal belief in a water-monster named the Wow-ee Wow-ee. A young girl is sent on an errand to fetch a neighbouring farmer in the middle of the night and comes into contact with the monster. She escapes, but adults later refuse to believe her story.
