Description - The Physicians of Eliot, Maine (Classic Reprint) by John L. M. Willis

Excerpt from The Physicians of Eliot, Maine

From memories, records and traditions, we can revive many of the names of those who practiced in our town, as well as of those whose birthplace was here.

Reginald fernald was, without doubt, the earliest physician in our Piscataqua plantation, - the doctor who came with Mason, and who practiced on both sides of our river. His home was at Strawberry Bank; yet he owned land in Kittery, and ministered to the sick among the scattered settlers here. He died in 1656, at Pierce's Island, and was buried at the Point of Graves, in Portsmouth.
