Each ordo is devoted to a specific literary or thematic category. In this edition, each text is preceded by an historical introduction, and is accompanied by two sets of notes: an apparatus criticus (that is, the text-critical notes) and a commentary, in which Erasmus' sources are identified and references to contemporary persons and events clarified.
