Rendered with a spatula in thick impasto, Baselitz's eagles tumble and soar across electric blue skies

Created in the artist's studio north of Salzburg, this new series of paintings and ink drawings by Georg Baselitz (born 1938) features eagles, a motif that recurs in his oeuvre. They are accompanied by a text from Andreas Zimmermann, curator of the celebrated exhibition Georg Baselitz: Naked Masters.
